Recently,Director Xiao Jing's team from the Rehabilitation Medicine Department of Xiyuan Hospital, Chinese Academy of Chinese Medical SciencesA clinical research paper entitled "Evaluation of the effect of acupotomy on trapezius myofascial pain syndrome based on shear wave elastography" was published on the authoritative Chinese medicine journal acupuncture and moxibustion.

This study was conducted by the Rehabilitation Medicine Department of Xiyuan HospitalDr. Rao YiAs the first author,Xijian TechnologyThe portable shear wave elastography (pSWE) device provided serves as the core evaluation tool, covering the entire process of clinical data collection. This study not only validates the effectiveness of needle knife therapy, but also marks a milestoneThe portable shear wave elastography technology has taken a solid step towards the objective and quantitative diagnosis and treatment of soft tissue pain.

Pain in the body, how to 'see' it in the eyes?

In the clinical practice of rehabilitation medicine and pain management, myofascial pain syndrome (MPS) is a chronic pain symptom characterized by trigger points (Trp) of muscles and fascia, accompanied by muscle tension, stiffness, and functional impairment.

However, for a long time, doctors' judgment of muscle tension and stiffness has mainly relied on palpation and patients' subjective descriptions (such as "I feel very painful" and "It feels hard to touch here"). This subjectivity limits the accuracy of diagnosis and the comparison of therapeutic effects. How to transform "subjective feelings" into "objective data"? How to objectively prove the effectiveness of treatment? This has become a pain point that urgently needs to be addressed in clinical practice.

PSWE technology: visualizing the degree of muscle stiffness

This study introducesThe portable shear wave elastography (pSWE) technology of Xijian TechnologyUnlike traditional ultrasound, pSWE technology can capture the tiny propagation speed of shear waves inside tissues, thereby calculating the equivalent shear modulus (G value) of tissues.

  • The higher the G value:The harder and more rigid the representative organization, the more severe the lesion may be.

This technology enables doctors to non invasively and real-time quantify the biomechanical properties of muscles, providing objective "visual" evidence for pain assessment.

Clinical research: validating the precise diagnostic and therapeutic value of mechanical quantification

In this controlled study involving 98 samples of trapezius muscle, the research team used equipment from Xijian Technology for data collection and conducted rigorous comparative analysis of the measured data, achieving significant clinical guidance results

1. Identify the mechanical quantification threshold for pain

Research has found that patients with trapezius myofascial pain have significantly higher muscle shear modulus G values (median 11.36 kPa) than healthy individuals (median 6.67 kPa).

More importantly, the study also obtained a key pain mechanics quantification threshold of 9.08 kPa through ROC curve analysis. This is the optimal threshold for diagnosing MPS in the trapezius muscle, at which the specificity of diagnosis is as high as 83.78% and the sensitivity is 75.41%.

This means that portable SWE technology can assist doctors in more accurate stratified diagnosis and reduce misdiagnosis and missed diagnosis.

2. The effect of needle knife treatment is "immediate", "seeing is believing", and "evidence-based"

After performing ultrasound-guided needle knife release therapy on the patient, the research team conducted a retest 30 minutes after treatment. The results show that:

·Muscle stiffness relief:The equivalent shear modulus G value significantly decreased from 11.49 kPa before treatment to 7.34 kPa.

·Muscle pain relief:The VAS pain score decreased from 4.21 to 0.92.

This result objectively confirms that the needle knife can immediately improve the mechanical state of local muscles by loosening the fascia and releasing stress. Xijian Technology's pSWE technology has successfully captured the muscle mechanics changes caused by treatment, and is expected to play an important role in the assessment of the mechanical state of the motor system and the evaluation of treatment effectiveness.

Profound significance: resonance between classic traditional Chinese medicine and biomechanics

The theory of meridian and tendon in traditional Chinese medicine holds that "if the knot is blocked, it will be blocked, and if it is blocked, it will be painful". Acupuncture and knife are aimed at "resolving the knot". In the past, these "knots" and "solutions" were often only understood by intuition.

Now, through the pSWE technology of Xijian Technology, we have transformed the traditional Chinese medicine concept of "fascial arrest and urgency" intoQuantitatively measurable and recorded G valueThis not only enables the therapeutic effects of classic therapies such as acupuncture and knife surgery to be realizedObjectification and visualizationIt also provides a strong biomechanical basis for classical Chinese medicine rehabilitation.

Conclusion

As the core technology provider of this research, Xijian Technology is deeply honored. The publication of this research result is not only a high recognition of our pSWE technology, but also an affirmation of the research and clinical value of innovative medical devices.

In the future, Xijian Technology will continue to deepen its expertise in the field of quantitative mechanics, committed to providing more convenient, accurate, and in-depth mechanical visualization tools for clinical applications, reducing the reliance on intuition in disease assessment and providing a solid foundation for disease treatment.
